About the venue

How spacious is the venue?

The venue features a ball room area or dance floor, a 15’ x 15’ movable stage, a fixed DJ table. The restaurant and bar are adjacent and accessible through a large doorway that can be left open or closed with curtains depending on your event. Optionally, we can also open the access to the outdoor patio. The maximum room capacity is 200 people. You can read more HERE.

Can the venue be arranged to accommodate my event?

Once we know what you are looking for, we can arrange the venue to your liking with tables, chairs, light projector, Audio/Video equipment and even a grand piano. You can read more about our options HERE.

Can I book the full facility for an event?

Yes. With advanced booking, you can reserve the entire facility including the venue or ballroom, the restaurant and bar area and the outdoor patio. A full buyout is easier on weekdays.

Catering for private events


What are the Catering options?

We can set a buffet composed of 2 appetizers, 3 dishes and 2 sides of your choice.

  • Apetizers: Aloko Plantains, spinach or beef Pastelles (African empenadas)

  • Dishes can be a combination of Akara (African bean fritter), chicken, fish or lamb served with Yassa, Cari, Coco or Mafe sauce.

  • Sides dishes: couscous, white rice or jollof rice.

For drinks, we can serve by the glass, bottle or pitchers.

How will the food be served?

Our staff can serve your party at tables or we can set a family-style buffet so your guests can help themselves.

For performers and public event organizers

Will you help for the promotion of the event?

Yes. Bissap Baobab will advertise about your event on its website, Instagram and Facebook accounts, EventBrite and other social media channels relevant to your performance. We ask that you provide us with your artwork.

Do you require a cover fee?

Yes. But we are reasonable! Once we know more about your event, we will agree on our percentage commission off your cover or door charge. Obviously, we prefer if people register in advance so we can better plan our logistics. We can use our EventBrite account and/or yours.

Can I record my performance?

Yes. You can bring a video crew to record your performance. We will ask you for the courtesy to tag Bissap Baobob wherever you post in in public, and also for a copy with the right to freely use on our website and social media channel while respecting the privacy of the public.

For Meetup Organizers

Can I organize my own meetup?

Yes. You are welcome to use our bar area for games, linguistic exchanges and social mingling. Depending on your activity and its timing, we may give you access to our outdoor patio and dance floor.

Do you require a cover fee?

Yes. Our standard cover fee is $10 and includes a free drink. We count on you to incite your participants to register ahead of time through our EventBrite account. For people who show up at the door, please ask them to buy at least a drink.

Can you serve food at meetup?

Yes. Our meetup menu gives you a choice of 3 appetizers: Aloko Plantains, spinach Pastelles or beef Pastelles (African empenadas).

Will you help for the promotion prior to the event?

Yes. Bissap Baobab will advertise about your event on its website, Instagram and Facebook accounts, and other relevant social media channels. We prefer if you supply us with your artwork or pictures.
